Totoro forest project

Totoro Forest Project is an international charity effort to preserve Sayama Forest, or Totoro Forest as it's also called. This sanctuary right outside of Tokyo is where anime-director Hayao Miyazaki got the inspiration for his character Totoro, my favourite animated character! If you haven't seen My neighbour Totoro, shame on you, and do not wait any longer! It's magic!
Over 200 top international artists from animation, illustration, and comics are donating artwork especially created for this cause.

On september 6th, Pixar Animation Studios will be hosting an international art auction event where you can bid on these fantastic pieces of art.

You have probably noticed the new sideboard, Trollsta (top image), from the new Ikea- collection, it's such a greatlooking piece of furniture, and it's made by the Swedish design-trio jba-design (Jantze, Brogård, Asshoff). I hope they do more pieces for Ikea (so I can afford it..).
Look at the chandelier, Pearl, they made for lampister, a pure white oversized brooch. Lovely.

In nytimes this week there were a tour of the house of pamela bell, one of the original partners of kate spade. Her house is beautiful, but the best part is this; she let her daughter invite her class to decorate their muslin covered sofa. And look at the result!

I'm so so in love with Doshi Levien, everything they design is so utterly human and still pretty, full of history and fairytales.
This is their new projects for Moroso, which were presented on the Milan furniture fair this year.
My beautiful backside, is a seating collection with a pebblelike back, which seems to float in the air. Gorgeous!
You have to surf their website, to see the details of this, and the wonderful new daybed Principessa, seen on the last drawing. Principessa is a daybed who consists of many thin matresses, inspired by HC Andersens tale of Princess and the Pea. As with their earlier Charpoy, this divan is also beautifully embroidered. It is full of added symbols, and everyday objects.

love this Legend-table from roche bobois. Its part of their range called eco-conception, which in this case means it's created from sustainable forests, cut within the grain, assembled without the use of hardware, glue or stains - and finished with a water base varnish. Got to love that!
And since we're in roche bobois-land, I had to show you the Route de the- staircase, I've been dreaming of this one for some years now, it's inspired by the traditional Chinese staircabinets, which was made of different parts, so that it could be easily moved. It's just so warm and soulful, don't you think?

In the autumn I love my cup of tea. One of my favourite treats are tea from Kusmi tea, who are celebrating 140 years of excellent teamaking. Of course the tea tastes better with beautiful packaging!

I already have a pretty teapot, but if I was to buy me a new darling - I would have to go for this great tilting teapot by Ronnefeldt.
Put leaves on the shelf, fill with hot water, and lay the teapot on its back. As the tea darkens, tilt the pot. Finally, when the tea is done, stand the teapot vertically, so the water no longer bathes the leaves and the brew does not become bitter!

4-pli is a young architectural firm based in williamsburg. I love their Puzzle Conference Table, it's made of seven individual desks that puzzle together to make a large conference table. I can't imagine any shady deals happening around this baby- it's too nice for that. 4-pli makes an effort to participate in the whole process from the paper to the finished product- which must be satisfying, when the products come out this nice.

Aqua Creations, established in '94, features the gorgeous lighting creations of designer and artist Ayala Serfaty.
Based in Tel-Aviv, Aqua Creations reaches worldwide with offices and showrooms around the world. You seriously need to surf their website- the lighting reminds me, not only of the obvious underwater-fauna, but also of asian 60's esthetics, probably because of the material choice, silk, and the colour scheme.

I heart the componibili-series from Kartell. The series designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri more than thirty years ago, are so versatile- they can be used for any purpose anywhere in your home. I finally found the perfect shelvingsystem for my cd's. The String system was originally made in 1949 by the swedish arhitect Nisse Strinning, but as it proves- it's timeless.
The system is a simple "ladder" climbing up the wall, and you can combine shelves however you like.
I bought the String pocket, which is the perfect size for cd's, pocketbooks or dvds.
It comes in several colours and types, including String plex, replacing the ladder with plexiglass-sides. Lovely.

I love this chair!!!!I know Patricia Urquiola has made tons of good stuff, but this is my absolute favourite! Upholstered with a hand weave in wool for the indoors, and in rope for the outdoors. I just love the BIG size, yet soft form of it. Can't you imagine lounging in this darling, reading tons of books, having a nap, then waking up to read more.aahhhhh!

I only want one wall in my hallway covered, but even this is troublesome. Here is chapter I in wallpapergoodies.
I'm starting of with one of them big names: Cole and Son These are some of my favorites. I love the Fornasetti- collection, especially the Frutto Proibito, with the little spooky monkeys, and Malachite which reminds me of those big tacky stones people displayed on their mantels.

Jean-Louis Domecq designed the first of these magnificent lamps in 1950, because he wasn't able to find a practical workinglamp. Well, good for us! 57 years later it's still one of the coolest cats in the world of lamps. It now comes in a whole range of colours and sizes. The price is insane for a student like moi, but a student need good worklight, right?

No.1 Eames Eames Eames, I want everything that couple ever made - but on the top of my eameslist are these two,
the LCW in walnut and the RAR rocking chair in blue fiberglass.sigh!

I dream of this simple daybed from habitat . I don't like sofas, so if I buy this one, my Ikea-monstersofa is out the door!

If, on the other hand I stumbled over a truckload of dineros, I might consider this faaaaaaaaaaaabulous modular sofa from rochebobois in the even more fabulous fabrics from Missoni home. The sofa is called Mah Jong. Don't you love?

This is a rug from the Norwegian designstudio Permafrost. It's called Silence and it really makes me nostalgic of the snowy winters we had in the 80s. It looks like thumper's been running across it! At first I was a bit unsure whether it tipped over on the kitschy side, but no, it's just nice, - I want it in my livingroom.

Nobel Peace Center, Pascal Cafe de la paix

This is totally the best thing about Oslo. Pascal, a french patisserie, who has several great cafes around the city- got the opportunity to serve their cakes at the Nobel Peace center. Look at this place! The interior is a collaboration between the artist Chris Ofili and the architect David Adjaye.

The bright red bookstore in the center is also a treat, with great merchandise, like these shwe shwe poppies .drawn by children in Soweto, and sown by they're mothers and grandmothers as part of raising money for the African Children`s Feeding Scheme.The dolls are named after their creator and they come with a picture of that child.cute and helpful!
